Nick Schneider

Nick Schneider leads the division on new technologies and data use at the German Federal Ministry of Health and is a passionate advocate for the EHDS and trustworthy AI for the benefit of EU citizens. He was born and raised in Latin America and studied medicine in Heidelberg. He led and represented the European Medical Students’ Association (EMSA) in Brussels and worked as patient safety officer for the Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME). After health advocacy and research positions in Brussels, the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and the Division for Cancer Prevention and WHO Collaborating Centre for Tobacco Control of the German Cancer Research Center, he joined the German Federal Ministry of Health, where he inter alia coordinated the negotiations to the EU General Data Protection Regulation and its implementation into health law on federal level. In the past years his team introduced several legal provisions facilitating patient/citizen centered health data use in Germany.
