Dr. Veli Stroetmann (MD, PhD) is Head of eHealth Research & Policy with empirica Communication & Technology Research in Bonn, Germany. She obtained an MD degree from the Academy for Medical Sciences in Sofia, Bulgaria, and a PhD in Medical Informatics. Over the last 25 years, she has been project coordinator or principal investigator for European Commission funded studies on eHealth policies, strategies, market research, business modelling, validation and evaluation of eHealth applications, semantic interoperability, patient empowerment and safety.
Currently, she leads Scale-AHA: Support to Scaling up of Innovations in Active and Healthy Ageing – a study commissioned by the EC, DG CNECT. She was co-leader of the recently finalised H2020 project ASSESS CT: Assessing SNOMED CT for Large Scale eHealth Deployments in the EU, and is co-leading the work on adoption in VALUeHEALTH: Establishing the value and business model for sustainable eHealth services in Europe. Another topic of interest is the uptake and sustainability of ICT supported integrated care (EU pilots SmartCare and CareWell).
