Henry studied biochemistry at Oxford University before deciding that laboratory life wasn’t for him, and he went to work for a science journal instead. From there, he went on to complete a Masters degree in Science Communication and, after a brief flirtation with science journalism, in 2003 he joined Cancer Research UK's communications team, where he has remained ever since. In nearly 17 years at the charity, he has had a number of diverse roles, including setting up, editing and writing for their digital news platform, and working on a number of high-profile media campaigns. In 2016, his partner was diagnosed with advanced bladder cancer and died shortly afterwards - an experience about which Henry is now writing a book, and which has led to him taking on a number of advocacy and involvement roles, including with the National Cancer Research Institute’s bladder and renal research group.
